Pre-wed Photography in the Cotswolds

on Tuesday, 27 August 2013.

Over the last few months I have been rather busy with both wedding shoots at some stunning venues and also meeting some awesome couples planning their own special days for 2014.

Naturally I love to shoot weddings, documenting the day as it unfolds. It requires careful planning, reliable equipment and often me going and checking out a venue before the "big day". I do this to look for unique aspects that I can include in my images just to keep each couples photographs fresh and not duplicates of other couples that have been there before. After all, each couple is completely different and their day is special and unique to them so why shouldn't their photos be also?

I met Poppy & Dan at Barnsely House in the Cotswolds which is only about 20 minutes from Cheltenham, where they are getting married in June next year and after a chat and a coffee we went out to explore the rather extensive and well manicured gardens.

They are very relaxed and a good laugh. I love how this old Cotswold stone arch naturally frames them. During my pre-wed shoots I very rarely get couples to pose as it can make them feel a little awkward and that comes out in the photographs. There is no substitute for a gorgeous spontaneous image that "captures the love".

I love Black & White images. If done correctly they are timeless and have oodles of intimacy. Here Dan and Poppy were just chilling on the stairs that lead from the restaurant to the gardens. We were very lucky and managed to dodge the rain although in saying that, rain can add some mood and drama with big ol dark skies.

Well needless to say I am really stoked to be a part of their day and can not wait to share it with them.
